Agreement between author and publisher

As noted in the submission guidelines, authors are required to cede copyright to Miscellanea Manitoba, to allow for the possibility of republication such as in an anthology. This agreement, which should be printed out, completed, and mailed it to the address below. This agreement is intended for the joint benefit of publisher and author, and seeks to delineate an equitable division of rights. It does not attempt to exhaust every possible contingency which might arise in the publisher-author relationship, trusting that common sense and mutual respect will prevail.

Rights of the publisher

To publish in perpetuity on the Miscellanea Manitobiana website an archived version of contribution as it first appeared;
To maintain on the said website a current version of the contribution, incorporating any changes mutually agreed to by publisher and author;
To publish in stand-alone form such additions and corrections to contributions as are deemed necessary, and to incorporate references to such items in the aforesaid current versions of contributions;
To be notified at least 30 days in advance of any intended republication by the author;
To remove or repudiate work which should prove to be plagiaristic or fraudulent.

Rights of the author

To have the contributed work credited by title and author’s name in all versions in which it may be published;
To have the work maintained intact and free of unauthorized modification, except for possible insertion of references to additions and corrections as noted above;
To be notified wherever possible of republication by the publisher;
To reprint the work (with original credits intact) in a print medium at any time subsequent to its first appearance on the Miscellanea Manitobiana website;
To reprint the work (with original credits intact) in an electronic medium 365 days or more following its first appearance on the Miscellanea Manitobiana website;
To incorporate the work, in part or in whole, in a substantially new work in any medium 730 days or more following its first appearance on the Miscellanea Manitobiana website, which new work is free of any obligation to Miscellanea Manitobiana (in other words, this clause extends the usual right of self-quotation).
